There are many ways in which young people can be involved at Central Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). There are organized get-togethers for the middle school and high school students. There are many special events throughout the year for the younger children. There is camp in the summer, and there are weekend spiritual events to choose from. There is Vacation Bible School every year as well as many opportunities for mission outreach that welcome youth involvement. Each Sunday there is a special “Children’s Moment” during worship and a Children’s Church is provided for preschoolers.

If the youth can’t find anything to do here... they aren’t looking very hard!

As the weather gets colder, activities in the youth group just keep on heating up!  In addition to making it out to a local corn maze and pumpkin patch recently, we also had our (now) annual October lock-in a few weeks ago, where 10 middle and high schoolers spent the night at the church carving pumpkins, playing video games, eating, and watching movies.  We also had time to throw together a basket to donate to the preschool fundraiser auction, as well as fill some prize bags for the following day’s “Trunk-or-Treat” event.  The youth have also been spotted serving at the Wayside Cross Gospel Rescue Mission homeless shelter, and they had a great time filling a few shoe boxes for operation Christmas Child.

Just around the corner we’ve got our annual Fall Retreat, this year to be held at Fred Rilling’s ol’ stompin’ grounds—Fort Collins.  We’ll have over forty high schoolers from the Central Rocky Mountain Region, all coming together to “act like a child” in the name of Christ. (this year’s theme).  When we return, we’ll also be participating in Rake Up Pueblo on November 19th, helping out a few elderly folks around town with their fall yard maintenance.  Whew! We may need to add a few more weekdays to the calendar just to get a break from the busy weekends!

In Christ, Jed
