THE DEVIL’S BEATITUDES

  1.   Blessed are those who are too tired, too busy, too distracted to spend an hour once a week with
their fellow Christians – For they save me the effort of keeping them from God’s blessings.

  2.   Blessed are those Christians who wait to be asked and expect to be thanked –
For it’s pretty easy to keep them from working for God.

  3.   Blessed are the touchy who stop going to church – For they are my missionaries.

  4.   Blessed are the trouble makers – For they shall be called my children.

  5.   Blessed are the complainers – I'm all ears for them.

  6.   Blessed are those who are bored with the minister’s mannerisms and mistakes –
For they get nothing out of his sermons.

  7.   Blessed is the church member who expects to be invited to his own church –
For he is a part of the problem instead of the solution.

  8.   Blessed are those who gossip – For they shall cause strife and division, which pleases me.

  9.   Blessed are those who are easily offended – For they will soon get angry and quit.

10.   Blessed are those who do not give their offering to carry on God’s work –
  For they are my helpers.

11.   Blessed is he who professes to love God but hates his brother and sister –
For they shall be with me forever!

Remember and Reflect

Ever wonder what inspired the song “Praise the Lord and Pass the Ammunition?” The song composed by Frank Loesser, a Broadway songwriter, came from a phrase spoken by Chaplain Howell M. Forgy during the attack on Pearl Harbor. He was trying to encourage men on the USS New Orleans as they struggled to pass heavy ammunition to gunners on deck.

This year, as you celebrate Independence Day, take time to remember all the brave men and women from the Revolutionary War to the present day that fought to obtain and protect our freedom. All of them probably offered more than one prayer to God before going into battle.

Please say a special prayer EVERY day that the independence and freedom we all enjoy will continue. In that prayer, offer thanks for all U.S. military personnel. They go in harm’s way every day to protect this land we love.

GOD BLESS the UNITED STATES
of AMERICA!

p.s. Please celebrate this Fourth of July safely. Fire danger in our beautiful
state of Colorado is more than extreme! Pray, also, for our fire fighters.

Faith, Grace, and Works

Written in the New Testament are two verses.
Ephesians 2:8-9 "For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not
of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast."
James 2:17 "Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead, being by itself."

God, like man has a conscience. He never manipulates his conscience, but man can
and does all the time. You say, "It's OK to exceed the speed limit." God says, "You're
breaking the law." You say "It's such a little thing and everybody does it". God says,
"You're breaking the law!"

I ask "How do you know if you're going to heaven?" You say "Because I am saved by grace!"

Paul said in Ephesians 2:8-9 "Not by works, so that no man may boast." James said "Faith without work is dead." WOW! did God change His mind? Did He manipulate His conscience? Never!

You are saved by grace to do good works. When Christ died for our sins, righteousness from Christ went into the believers so they could continue Christ's work and to go out to all nations and spread the word.

Question, when can you stop working for God? When you are called home in heaven! When do you have to much to do and want someone else to take over? When God tells you! How much time do you spend with God? Every minute! Do you fear God? When people do fear God, a work of grace has begun in their hearts. People do not want to fear God because of their commitment to their own autonomy and they do not want to give account for their behavior. Grace does not eliminate accountability. The absence of fear indicates a misunderstanding of God's grace.

You must be careful lest God's gracoius dealing with you lulls you into believing that you need not fear Him. Love, hope, grace, and fear weave together into a beautiful tapestry of what a healthy relationship with God in your life looks like.           Tom Whaley
